Y Neuadd Llanon

The Hall is believed to date back to the 14th century and is one of the oldest examples of a chimneyed house in Ceredigion. Richard Suggett, architectural historian and senior investigator of the Royal Commission’s survey team suggested the three-unit house, built of stone with a lateral chimney dated between 1550-1575, making it one of Ceredigion’s oldest houses. It first appears in historical records in 1645 and was last occupied in the 1880s. What remains includes a cross-passage, lamp bracket, lateral fireplace and an original timber window frame of two light, round-headed windows.

It was excavated in July 2013 by Dyfed Archaeological Trust and is now viewable anytime.
